Christmas 2015 is just around the corner and I decided to share with you my outdoor gear ideas on my Christmas wishlist for 2015 and which I intend to use on my next hiking, snowshoeing or packrafting adventures (in case I would get the items).

Patrick snowshoeing in Finnish Lapland.

Suunto Traverse

Actually, I bought the Suunto Traverse already last weekend but was initially also on my Christmas wishlist. It may not have a fancy color display as the Garmin Fenix 3 but Suunto is known to make reliable products and I also like the Movescount app to connect the watch with your iPhone e.g. use it as a second screen or create outdoor movies.

Rab Positron Jacket

The Rab Positron Jacket is a 850 fp down jacket designed for mountain and expedition use up to 6000m. The jacket also features HydroDown which means that it does not absorb water that well than normal down which means that the down will insulate for a longer period.

MSR Windboiler

The MSR Windboiler is also on my wishlist as my go-to hiking stove. Konstantin has this stove already and it has proved to be an excellent stove this year on his trips to Japan, Sweden and Poland. Weight: 432 grams

Sorel Men’s Caribou Extreme Snow Boot

Synthetic boots are better suited for cold winter days than leather shoes. That’s why the Sorel Caribou Extreme Snow Boot made it into my wishlist as extreme winter boots. The boot features a removable 9mm washable felt inner boot with Omni-Heat reflective lining and is able to handle -40C according to Sorel. Weight: 1082 grams.

Therm-a-Rest NeoAir XTherm

The Therm-a-Rest NeoAir Xtherm is the perfect cold weather mattress (R-value: 5.7) for winter but can also be used during the warmer months since it only weights 430 grams (regular size).

MSR Lightning Ascent Snowshoes

The MSR Lightning Ascent Snowshoes weight 1800 grams feature steel cross members (my old snowshoes didn’t have them) and televators which make uphill walking a breeze.

MSR Flight 3 Poles

For snowshoeing I would also need a pair of poles. The MSR Flight 3 poles are fast-and-light ski mountaineering, splitboarding and snowshoeing. I saw them this year on the ISPO in Munich and liked them straight away.
