Middenduin is a diverse area with forest, open dunes, wooded hills and steep landscape located nearby Haarlem and was established in 1995. The sand of the dunes was used in Amsterdam and Den Haag in order to build the canals which has been stopped in 1948.
From Haarlem its just a short train trip to Overveen where you can access the National Park. The animals in the National Park were not shy. I suppose they are quite used to encounter human beings in the Netherlands. Bisons were grazing on the fields.
